Why Non Black People Should Support Black Businesses

WORKING TOGETHER BRIDGING THE GAP TO BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

WHY YOU AS A NON-BLACK SHOULD SUPPORT BLACK BUSINESSES

REASON #1

You want to see us succeed! Black Businesses are very few and far between. We don’t own a lot of businesses! And if we are to get anywhere close to self sufficiency and full autonomy as a people, owning successful, thriving businesses is a key component of us getting there.

REASON #2

Black People have been supporting non-black businesses for generations – whether we like it or not! We could start with slavery, reconstruction, and the Jim Crow era, but even now – years later – we have to get 90% of the items we use from non-black businesses. From groceries to healthcare, entertainment to vacation, transportation to utilities – most of what we need to survive and “live” come from non-black businesses.

REASON #3

We are waaaaay behind you in terms of economic empowerment! And in order to swerve our next generation from complete and utter nothingness, we need all hands on deck. Research shows that we as a people are poorer than we were 50 years ago, and in order to bridge the gap between Blacks and Non-Blacks it will take 228 years doing it alone. (Let’s make it 50 years or less.)

REASON #4

We see you fighting along side us as we seek equality, equity, and the justice we know we deserve, and we appreciate you. And yes, together we are breaking down the barriers and bureaucracies that are deliberately aligned to keep us oppressed, suppressed, repressed and depressed. But we have to tackle this issue on all fronts. As a people, we need leverage, and economic empowerment will help us with that. As a people who have been downtrodden for centuries, we need to establish economic empowerment in order to fully function as humans and a people who have given so much.

REASON #5

You supporting our businesses is not a pass on your businesses. In fact, even if you wanted to support our businesses and our businesses only, you could not because we do not own enough businesses. One day each week is all we ask. #buyblackday #bbd. Choose a day every week that you purchase only from black businesses. You can come here on this website one day each week and use the search bar to find black businesses with the products or services you need. Believe me, it will not put any substantial dent in non-black businesses bottom line. We do not own enough businesses.
